There are Sundays when the Word comforts us, and there are Sundays when it calls us to get up and move. This week, it did both.
Ps Larry took us to Exodus 33, where Moses faced a future he wouldn’t enter without God. He had a promise and people to lead. He even had God’s assurance that the journey could continue. Yet Moses knew that none of it was enough without the presence of the Lord.
That prayer belongs to us too: “Lord, go with us.”
What Does It Mean for God’s Presence to Go With Us?
God’s presence means we never walk into our homes, workplaces, schools or communities alone. Jesus promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). His presence comforts us, but it also sends us. We follow Him, live like Him and help others follow Him too.
We Are Not Going Alone
God answered Moses in Exodus 33:14: “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Maybe you’ve entered this week tired. Perhaps you’re carrying a private battle, praying for your family, or wondering how you’ll take the next step. Hear this again: you’re not going alone.
God’s presence doesn’t mean the road will always be easy. It means the road will never be empty. He’s with you in the conversation you’ve been avoiding, in the home where you’re trying to rebuild trust. He’s beside you when obedience feels costly and no one else sees it.
As a church, this is what makes us different. It isn’t our programme, our building or our ability. It’s God among us. Like Moses, we don’t want to move merely because a door is open. We want to move with Him.
Following Jesus Is a Personal Decision
No one can follow Jesus on your behalf. You can grow up in church, know the songs and hear the Word every Sunday, yet discipleship still begins with your own yes.
Jesus doesn’t only call us to believe certain things about Him. He says, “Follow Me.” That decision shapes our character, our choices and the way we treat people when there’s nothing to gain.
Ps Larry reminded us that a disciple becomes more like Christ and then becomes a pattern others can follow. Paul wrote, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1).
That can feel like a weighty statement. However, it’s also a beautiful picture of everyday faith. Your children learn something about Jesus by watching you apologise. A colleague sees Him when you act with integrity. A neighbour meets His kindness when you notice a need and stop to help.
The question isn’t, “Who am I following?” It’s, “What kind of path am I leaving for the person behind me?”
Disciples Make Disciples
The goal isn’t to collect knowledge while people around us remain far from God. We’re being equipped to win souls and make disciples.
That begins closer than we sometimes think. There’s someone in your phone who needs encouragement. A colleague at work is asking questions beneath the questions. Maybe a family member needs to see that the gospel has changed the way you love, forgive and speak.
Sharing Jesus isn’t reserved for a special outreach day. It becomes part of our lives. We pray for people by name. We listen, tell our story honestly, and invite someone to church, into our home, or into a conversation about Jesus. Then we keep walking with them.

We Are Living Acts 29
The Book of Acts ends at chapter 28, but the work of the Holy Spirit didn’t end there. There’s no literal Acts 29 in the Bible. Ps Larry used the phrase to remind us that the story of the Church is still being written through ordinary believers who say yes to God.
We are Acts 29.
Every time the gospel is shared, the story continues. When someone is discipled, restored or sent, another line is written. Each prayer in a lounge, every act of service and courageous invitation becomes part of what Jesus is still doing through His Church.
Church, we’re not spectators reading about what God once did. We carry the same gospel. The Holy Spirit still fills, leads and sends people. The mission is still ours: to go and make disciples, with the promise that Jesus goes with us.
Goodness Surrounds This House
Ps Larry also unpacked the Hebrew word “toob”, translated as goodness. Its pictograph carries the thought of a basket and a house — something that surrounds the home. It gives us a tender picture of God’s grace, beauty, love, health and provision encircling His people.
Psalm 23:6 says, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
We don’t have to chase goodness as if God is reluctant to give it. As we follow the Shepherd, His goodness follows us. It reaches into our homes, our relationships and the work of our hands. His goodness helps things function as He intended, bringing restoration where life has slipped out of order.
This doesn’t mean we pretend everything is fine. It means we trust the One who walks with us and works among us.
A Church That Goes Together
“Go with us” is both a prayer to God and an invitation to people.
Lord, go with us into this week. Go with us as we raise our children, serve our community and speak about Jesus. Go with us into the places where hope feels thin.
To the person still standing at the edge: go with us. Don’t walk alone. Come and grow. Join P40. Find your place to serve. Share your faith. Bring someone with you.
